Types of CNC milling
In CNC milling, there are various types that can be selected depending on the application and material. Here are some of the most common types of CNC milling:
Vertical Milling: In this type of milling, the workpiece is fixed on a table while the milling head moves in a vertical direction. This is one of the most common types of CNC milling.
Horizontal Milling: Here, the milling head moves in a horizontal direction while the workpiece is fixed on a table. This type of milling is often used for heavy materials.
5-Axis Milling: In this type of milling, the milling head moves in five axes, allowing for higher precision and flexibility when machining complex shapes.
Gantry Milling: In this method, the workpiece is placed on a table that is supported by a bridge, which can move in the X and Y directions. The milling head moves in the Z direction, enabling the machining of large workpieces.
Engraving Milling: This type of milling is primarily used for creating engravings and other fine details. The milling head moves in a single axis to cut a pattern or text into the material.
Depending on the requirement, choosing the right type of CNC milling can make the difference between a successful and an ineffective machining process.
